Through the lens of creativity and compassion, Alive is an opportunity for filmmakers and creators to confront the complexities of mental health and addiction head on. There are countless stories that need to be told - from personal struggles and the journey to overcoming them, friends or family members that have been impacted by these topics, to community efforts that are truly making a difference. This challenge is open to individuals and creative groups around the globe. Although we love amazing cinematography, and it’s highly encouraged - don’t let your equipment be a barrier. Tell the best story whether it’s on an Arri or an iPhone.
Alive was created to showcase these powerful narratives in a groundbreaking film challenge, it might just be your story that saves the next life.
Challenge Deadline - August 11th
Films must be final and submitted before August 11th at midnight.

Top 3 films will be premiered at the Winter Park Film Festival in September, 2024.
WE ARE IN A CRISIS
Whether it’s drug overdose deaths or related accidents, suicides and other mental health nightmares - things are getting worse, not better. Alive is part of an effort to shed more light on this issue that affects millions each year.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Alive Film Challenge is a filmmaking event focusing on mental health and addiction. It's open to participants worldwide, allowing filmmakers from any corner of the globe to take part. The primary requirement is that your film addresses themes related to mental health and or addiction, whether through a documentary, narrative, or animated format. Tell a great story no matter what you have available to you. The top three films will be showcased at the prestigious Winter Park Film Festival. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to win a valuable prize: a camera rental package + full production support worth over $10,000 to take your project to the next level. The winning film will also receive a $3,000 grant to further support their creative endeavors.
